Walter J. Goralczyk of Gurnee, Illinois, age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at home.

Walter was born on June 9, 1943 in Montreal, Canada, the son of William and Anne Goralczyk (nee Kielbicki). Walter's family moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1954 where Walter graduated from St. Stanislaus B&M Grade School and Lane Technical High School. On, June 29, 1963 Walter married the late Diane T. Goralczyk (nee Chmura) at St. Constance Church. Out of high school, Walter started working at Rubenstein Lumber Company where he was a yard worker and worked his way up to becoming a manager at the Morgan Street lumber yard. After the passing of George Rubenstein, he became one of three people to own Rubenstein Lumber Company.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Walter enjoyed fishing, boating and was an avid Chicago sports team fan (Blackhawks, Bears and Cubs). Walter was a minor league hockey player in his younger years. Walter and Diane enjoyed vacationing across the United States frequently.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Diane T. Goralczyk (nee Chmura), his parents and his daughter, Lisa Collins. He is survived by his son, Charles (Tanya) Goralczyk, grandchildren Ashley Collins, Jennie (Daniel) Niedbalec, and Samuel Collins. Walter is also survived by his sister, Helen Fuesz (nee Goralczyk), nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Angels Homecare Services, Inc. and especially to his caregiver of 4.5 years Lemuel Cabase Cataraja and to JouneyCare Hospice for providing such excellent care to Walter.

A memorial visitation with the family will be held for Walter J. Goralczyk on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 North Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, Illinois, 60714 from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Private internment to be completed at a later date at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleums in Niles, Illinois.
