Theresa B. Niski, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1932 to Mary (Jastrzemski) and Albert Sowa in Chicago, Illinois. On May 18, 1957, she married her beloved husband, the late Stanley P. Niski. She was the devoted mother of Paul, Michael (Maureen) and Nancy (Bob) Ramberg; loving grandmother of Caroline (Keith Piper) and Meghan Niski and Nicole and Mike Ramberg; dear sister of the late Ted, Stan, Sophie (Bart) and Joe Sowa; and cherished aunt and friend to many.

Theresa was a Registered Nurse and a 1953 graduate of St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She started her career at that hospital, and in later years worked as a geriatric nurse for 17 years at St. Andrews and Bethany Terrace nursing homes. Theresa had a talent for creating beautiful floral arrangements and wreaths, enjoyed reading fiction and mysteries, and was a champ at playing Scrabble. Theresa had a keen interest in history and learning new things. She was happiest being with family, especially at holiday gatherings; and loved spending time in nature and Door County.

Visitation at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, from 9:30 -11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27; to St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., for mass at 12 p.m. Interment at Maryhill cemetery.

Theresa and her husband Stan loved nature and enjoyed many trips to the Morton Arboretum. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Morton Arboretum in Theresa's memory are appreciated and may be made through The Morton Arboretum's Tribute Gifts page. It is our hope to designate a tree in their honor (Theresa and Stanley Niski).
