Obituary

Tadeusz Zurowski, 76, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, brother and brother-in-law, peacefully passed away in his home, surrounded by his family on August 20, 2024, after a decade long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Tadeusz is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Wanda (Korus) Zurowska, two sons Artur (Anna) Zurowski, Dominik (Julita) Zurowski, daughter Zaneta (Daniel) Balaban, his beloved grandchildren, Gabriel, Oliver, Johnny Zurowski, Feliks, Kasper Zurowski, Liliana and Benjamin Balaban, two brothers, sister, nieces and nephews and their families.

Tadeusz was born on September, 9 1947, to Jan and Janina Zurowski, in Skrzyszow, Poland, where he grew up with his 3 siblings and later met his wife Wanda. Tadeusz and Wanda wed on August 24, 1974 and that same year Tadeusz first immigrated to the United States in pursuit of work and "the American Dream." While he often traveled between Poland and the US, he finally moved to the US with his wife and children in 2000. Tadeusz was extremely hard working. He worked for many years at Midwest Fence Co. in Chicago, which he was proud of. He was an auto mechanic by trade but there was nothing he couldn't fix.

Tadeusz loved to dance, fix/improve things, animals, but most of all his family. He was a kind man who wore his heart on his sleeve and would often tear up when talking about his family. He had the greatest smile and always offered a helping hand. He helped raise all his grandchildren and loved reading and telling them stories. They were his pride and joy.

Tadeusz got diagnosed with ALS in August, 2014 and his prognosis completely devastated his family. Yet, he beat every statistic and overcame many health obstacles, often surprising his doctors and family. When Tadeusz was first diagnosed with ALS, there was no cure and no treatment available. Soon after, the "Ice bucket challenge" exploded, and in a few years a new treatment to slow down the progression of the disease became available. It gave him and his family a lot of hope. Additional treatments have become available since then.

Tadeusz will always be remembered by his family as a loving, kind hearted, sensitive man with a lot of willpower.
