Obituary

Sandra Victoria Carroll passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 79 as a result of complications of a cardiac event. She is survived by her daughter Jaclyn, her son-in-law Brian Anderson, and their children Jack (11), Brianna (8), Victoria (2), and AJ (12 weeks). Other survivors include Jean Graf, the widow of Sandy's brother Tom, and her uncle Edward Jablonski.

Sandy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 4, 1946  to August and Victoria Graf. She grew up with her younger brother Tom who passed away in 2003. She married John Carroll on October 16, 1971 in a happy union that lasted 33 years until his death on November 9, 2004. The couple welcomed their daughter Jaclyn on March 14, 1982.

After moving to Niles, Sandy became a teacher at St. Juliana where she was beloved by both her students and co-workers. She was always "tickled" when a former student saw her years later and told her how much they were touched by her. She remained a constant presence in the same school until her retirement.

As much as Sandy loved teaching, her family mattered even more to her. She loved her parents, husband, brother and his wife, and her aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially her Uncle Ed and his family. Above all, though, she was devoted to her daughter Jackie and later opened her heart to her son-in-law Brian and her growing collection of grandchildren. Her face lit up every time she talked about them. Sandy was also the best friend you could ask for. Her loyalty to all her loved ones was as strong as it was enduring.

Sandy will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she shared. Though she endured poor health for many years, she persevered with a cheerfulness that inspired all those who knew her. She was always willing to help others even during the times when she needed help herself. She gave selflessly of all she had and never placed herself before anyone else. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through the countless lives she blessed.
