Sam
Cosentino
Oct 5, 1931 — Dec 25, 2025
Scottsdale
Sam Cosentino, a lifelong resident of Niles, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 94—a true "super ager." Born on October 5, 1931, Sam lived a long and meaningful life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and enduring friendships. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene; his brother and business partner, Jim; his sister, Pearl; and his cherished grandson, Zachary. He is
survived by his brothers, Bobby and Ray; his daughters, Gina, Ramona (husband Quinn), Chrisie (husband Garry); along with his grandchildren, Sam, Ally, Kendra, Garrett, and Emma. In his later years, nothing brought a bigger smile to Sam's face than his great-grandchildren—Landon, Romee, Stevie, Brynn, Tatum, and Weston.
A proud first-generation Sicilian American and Korean War veteran, Sam carried the values of discipline, loyalty, and perseverance throughout his life. Alongside his brother Jim, he operated Cosentino Brothers Produce, a business that reflected his tireless work ethic. Known for waking up at 3:00 a.m. every day of the week, Sam never slowed down. After decades of dedication and hard work, Sam enjoyed a well-earned retirement, dividing his time between Chicago and Scottsdale, Arizona, although Niles remained home in his heart. Our parents were married almost 50 years until our precious mother passed in 2010. In his later years, he rekindled a relationship from his early twenties with Angela, who brought him joy, companionship, and love for 13 years. A professional Italian foodie, he loved, among many other things, authentic pizza and beef sandwiches. In retirement, he also pursued his passions for baking, faithfully serving at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church, and going to the gym every morning—a routine that contributed to his long and healthy life. Sam was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. His legacy lives on in the traditions he cherished, the Saturday phone calls to loved ones that became routine, and the banana bread he proudly shared with those he loved. Above all, Sam will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his commitment to his work, and the many lives he touched along the way.
