Obituary

Rudolf "Rudy" Klatt, 88, was born on October 11,1934 and entered into eternal life on July 9, 2023 unexpectedly.  He was the youngest of four sons born to Julius and Martha Klatt in Stromtal, Germany.  Before he immigrated to the United States he was an apprentice at a furniture shop where he learned how to make frames for couches and chairs and quickly became the top producer.  He settled in Chicago, Illinois in 1957 and worked at various  carpentry positions.   He enjoyed creating with his hands and took great pride in his work.  Rudy eventually became a building engineer (he was a jack of all trades and master of them all) and property owner, fulfilling the American dream.

In 1960, Rudy met and married Katharine Eberhardt and had two children, Peter Klatt (Gale Lukat) and Sylvia (Mark) Atkins.  Katharine passed away in 1984 leaving Rudy to raise and care for his children.  He dedicated himself to ensure a happy life for them.  He found love again in 1989 with his long time partner, Jutta Sievers (who proceeded him in death in April 2023) and her family, Mark (Pamela) Sievers, Betina Sievers, and grandchildren Nicole, Danielle, and Kyle.

Rudy was an optimist who never gave up.  He will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving father, husband, partner and friend who worked hard and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rudy loved his grandcats and was always happy to see and care for them when needed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: www.feralfelineproject.org or by mail to: Feral Feline Project P.O. Box 1, Wheeling, Illinois 60090

Services and interment at St. Joseph Cemetery were private per Rudy's wishes.
