Robert Arthur Eiden
August 22, 1944 – November 2, 2022
Robert Eiden of Tinley Park, beloved husband of Carol Eiden, loving father of Abby, Tim, and Tom, and cherished grandfather of Sawyer, Rory, Carter, and August, passed away on November 2, 2022 after battling a brain tumor.
Bob grew up in Chicago, as the youngest child of Arthur and Elizabeth Eiden. Having lost his mother at the age of eight, he was lovingly raised by his four older sisters Pat, Betty, Barbara, and Peggy, all of whom predeceased him. He attended Loyola Academy ('62), by hitchhiking his way to and from school every day. He then went on to graduate from Loyola University ('66), and Loyola Law School ('69). A conscientious attorney, Bob practiced for more than forty years as a partner in downtown law firms, specializing in real estate, tax, and estate planning.
A North-sider, Bob was a passionate Cubs fan. He collected seat cushions from the bleachers as a kid during the 1950s to earn tickets to the next day's game. When the Cubs won the World Series in 2016, Bob said, "now I can die happy." Bob also enjoyed golfing, and some of his fondest memories of his youth were slinging his clubs over his back and riding his motorcycle down Waveland Avenue to play.
During his 53 years of marriage, Bob was a dedicated family man. A professional worrier for both his clients and his wife and kids, he watched over everyone and kept them safe. A sociable person, Bob could, and did, talk to anyone and everyone. His gregariousness will be missed by all who knew him.
