Obituary

Raymond Adam Eck

June 8, 1928 – June 22, 2022

Raymond Adam Eck, 94, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22.

Ray was born on June 8, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Elizabeth Eck.

In September 1955 he married Barbara Lovitz, and they had five children: Steven (Karin, dec. 2006), Ellen, Thomas (Mary), Anne (Rick) and Gregory (Diane). Ray and Barb lived in Niles for 48 years before moving to Fox Lake.

Ray served in the Air Force Reserve for three years as a senior clerk (1950-1953) and worked as an accountant at Victor Comptometer for 38 years and for eight years for Tommy Armour golf until retiring.

A devout Catholic, God-fearing, Jesus-loving man, Ray loved his family well and was always up for a silly joke. He gave the best hugs and kept a spare piece of spearmint gum handy for any grandchild who asked. He was a long-time member of St. John Brebeuf in Niles.

Ray is survived by his wife and his five children, six grandchildren (Carlene Sears (Justin), Glenn, Jessica, Jamie Huber (Ian), Amber, Joseph and Katie), four great-grandchildren (Luke, Mikah, Cole and a baby-on-the-way) and his brother Ronald (Oddbjørg). He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lily (Ken Woelck).

Ray will be entombed at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, but his soul is home and at peace with God.

A small private service for close family is being planned.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in Ray's honor.
