Obituary

Mitchell “Mitch” Celarek, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026. He was born on November 25, 1935, in Zagorze, Poland.

Mitch will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his two sons, and his grandson.

Born in Poland, Mitch came to the United States as a young man with his wife and their first child, determined to build a better life for his family. Through hard work, ambition, and perseverance, he eventually founded his own manufacturing company, United Spring & MFG. CO., which proudly celebrated 58 years of operation this year.

Mitch loved his work and was grateful for the success he achieved. He used that success to help others and never forgot his hometown in Poland. During a very difficult time for his country, he generously helped finance the construction of a church for the local community, leaving behind a lasting gift to the people and place he never forgot.

Mitch was a generous and caring man who often put the needs of others before his own. Above all, he cherished being a grandfather and was immensely proud of his family. His love, generosity, determination, and devotion to those around him will remain a lasting part of his family’s memories.

He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, especially his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Although his great-grandchildren will sadly never have the opportunity to know him, they will always carry his memory in their hearts.

The family will greet visitors at Skaja Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Constance Catholic Church, 5843 W. Strong St., Chicago, IL 60630.

Mitchell „Mitch” Celarek zmarł spokojnie w wieku 90 lat w poniedziałek, 14 września 2026 roku. Urodził się 25 listopada 1935 roku w Zagórzu w Polsce.

Mitch pozostanie w pamięci jako kochający mąż, ojciec, dziadek i bliski przyjaciel wielu osób. Będzie go bardzo brakowało córce, wnukom i prawnukom. Przed nim odeszli: żona, dwaj synowie oraz wnuk.

Urodzony w Polsce Mitch przybył do Stanów Zjednoczonych jako młody człowiek wraz z żoną i pierwszym dzieckiem, zdeterminowany, by zapewnić rodzinie lepsze życie. Dzięki ciężkiej pracy, ambicji i wytrwałości założył własną firmę produkcyjną – United Spring & MFG.

Wykorzystywał go, by pomagać innym, i nigdy nie zapomniał o swoim rodzinnym mieście w Polsce.

Będzie go bardzo brakowało najbliższym, a zwłaszcza córce, wnukom i prawnukom. Choć prawnukowie niestety nigdy nie będą mieli okazji go poznać, zawsze będą nosić pamięć o nim w swoich sercach.
