Margaret Irene "Marge" Ludwig, née Ostrander, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Fred Ludwig, Loving mother of Fred J. Ludwig, Kathleen McCarthy, and Anne (David) Haynes. Proud grandmother of Nate, Julia, Michelle, Ed, Jack, and Lilly. Adored sister of Jane Vodicka, Joel (Fran) Ostrander, John (the late Kim) Ostrander, Patricia(Bernard) Hronek, the late Dorothy Anne, and the late infant Kathleen. Marge was pre-deceased by her parents, Joel W. Ostrander Sr. and Mary Jane Ostrander, as well as her Aunts Dorothy Ostrander, Helen Ostrander, and  Sr. Mary Cramer, BVM.

Marge lived a full life defined by her deep faith and unwavering service to others.

​A 1963 graduate of Mundelein College, Marge began her vocation of service as a volunteer with the Catholic Extension Society in rural Oklahoma. She carried this passion for helping others into her professional life as an educator, teaching 4th grade at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Winnetka and later at Walker School in Evanston, IL.

​Marge was a devoted member of the St. Juliana Parish community. In the 1970s, she and her husband, Fred, taught high school students in the parish CCD program. A pioneer in lay ministry, Marge served as a lector and commentator at St. Juliana, distinguished as one of the first women to take on that role. When her children were all in school, she went back to school to develop her talent in art. She held several graphic arts jobs in the publishing world, she designed ads for Pioneer Press, and designed church bulletin covers that reflected the readings for that Sunday. She volunteered at Misericordia, teaching art to resident children and adults with Intellectual disabilities.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 3 to 8PM at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. Niles, IL 60714. Funeral Thursday  at 10:45 AM to St. Juliana Church for an 11:30 AM Mass.

Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
