Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Marek Klincewicz, loving father of sons Alex, Jacob, and Stefan and brother of Basia and Martha.

Marek, 57 years old, passed away suddenly in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, while doing what he loved most: sailing out on the water, kitesurfing and windsurfing. The family members that were with him in his last days attest that they were joyous - he had a huge smile on his face and was experiencing some of his greatest moments out on the water.

Marek was born on September 26, 1969 to Elżbieta and Bolesław Klincewicz. He grew up and lived most of his life in Logan Square. He attended St. Hyacinth Basilica School in his elementary years, Gordon Tech High School, and graduated from University of Illinois in Chicago in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. His legacy is marked with his love for tennis and water sports, passions which he ardently shared with his sons.

The many people that loved him will remember him for his unconditional hospitality, his heartfelt, genuine kindness, his gentle nature, and the love and grace that emanated from his heart of gold. So many individuals beyond his immediate family are so heartbroken at this loss. The world feels incomplete without him, but he wants us to know that he is still present with us, that there are brighter days ahead and that he will accompany us to carry on his light.

Most of all, the cornerstone of Marek’s life were his sons. There was nothing that meant more to him. They were his pride and joy; he wouldn’t stop talking about them. And all the moments he spent with them were his happiest. Dad, although we’re heartbroken that you’re not physically here with us anymore, that we can’t have our deep conversations, feel your warm embrace, or live out our dreams of going sailing around the world, we’re eternally grateful for the unconditional love that you showed us in this life and that we continue to feel from you. We’ll forever strive to honor you, make you proud and show you how proud we are of you in return, through all the little ways that we as sons will make your presence and love known in this world.

Bask in the eternal symphonies and banquets of heaven with your loved ones - your mother, your father and all who adore you and are blessed to be reunited with you. Keep sailing, be in the wind, nudge us in the breeze, and one day when we sail into the horizon as well, we will be joyously reunited in the place where the sun sets. We will miss you until the end of our days. Love you forever and ever.

The visitation will be held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N Milwaukee Ave. Niles on Friday, November 6th from 4 PM - 8 PM.

The funeral mass will take place at St. Hyacinth Basilica on Saturday, November 7th at 10 AM with the burial immediately following the mass at Maryhill Cemetery.
