Obituary

Marcella Larson was born on December 28, 1932 in Gettysburg, South Dakota. She lived with her mother Julia (Renner) McKay and father John McKay in Gettysburg. Unfortunately, her mother and father got divorced when Marcella was 3 years of age.
At the age of three (3) and blessed by her grandmother (Ella McKay), Marcella was taken in and raised by Ella.  At the age of eight (8), Marcella with her grandmother moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where she attended school.   Marcella went to school for approximately 10 ½ years (sophomore year of high school).  While attending school, Marcella would work various jobs to help her grandmother pay bills.
Marcella lived with her grandma until her grandmother passed.  Marcella was approximately 15 years of age.  After the passing, Marcella would live with multiple relatives.  In 1949 at the age of 17, she met and married her first husband Russ.  Russ's employment required Marcella to move from South Dakota to Sandwich, Illinois.  While in Illinois, Marcella had her first child Linda in 1950.  Years later, Marcella and Russ where divorced.   Striving to take care of her daughter, Marcella moved to Galesburg, Illinois with her friend Deloris.  She lived in a Quonset hut and worked in a dress factory as a seamstress.  Later, she was promoted into a supervisory position.

In 1956, Marcella moved to Aurora, Illinois and worked at a Box Factory.  While in Aurora, she met the love of her life Marvin.  They dated for approximately a year and married on July 12, 1958.  Marvin adopted Marcella's daughter Linda. In 1958, Marcella and her husband Marvin bought their first home in Niles, IL.  She and Marvin attempted for five (5) years to have a child.  In 1963, Marcella had her son John.
Marcella lived in Niles, Illinois for over 57 years.  She then moved to Platte City, Missouri where she was able to spend time with her grandchildren (Courtney and Nicole and significant others Kasey and Nick, her son John and daughter in law Elmerine.  During her time in Platte City, she spent most of her time just enjoying the things she loved most, visiting with family, playing Skip-Bo, working on puzzles.  She loved to read what she would call love stories.  When visiting her home, it would not be uncommon to have Hallmark movies playing on the T.V. or her talking to her beloved dog (which was her daughter's Linda dog) Thomas.  Her son John would convince Marcella to go on whatever he asked her to ride.  This included ATV, wave runners, scooters and boat rides.  Recently, she took a trip to Tennessee to see her grandchildren (Robert, Rose, Michael and Diana) and her great grand children (Alyssa, Larissa, Kyle, Tyler, Dylan, April, Jake, Anthony, Chloe).  She loved with all her heart and would not pass up a hug. She will be missed beyond words could ever say.
