Kurt Robert
Kozeny
May 9, 1969 — Feb 19, 2024
Niles
Kurt Robert Kozeny, age 54, beloved son of Lois and the late Ralph Kozeny. Dearest brother of Greg (Joan), Keith (Catherine), Debora (Sheldon) Friedman and Timothy (Melanie).
Loving uncle to Greg (Nicole), Grant, Jackson, Kristen (Erik), Kortney, Kevin, Kimberly, Nicole (Reese), Jimmy and Brian. Great uncle to Cameron, Kendal, Emma, Cole, Holly, Stella, Priscilla, Sloane, Mya, Hannah, Johnny and Calvin.
Kurt was born with Down Syndrome, but that never stopped him from his desire and motivation to accomplish anything. He embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit and generosity for family, friends and everyone he met. He was always willing and wanting to help in any way possible. Kurt was big-hearted and vibrant. He radiated light and goodness. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile. His sense of humor and wit made everyone smile. Some of his favorite expressions were, "Hi, Cupcake," "Kurt the flirt," "Let's go to dinner," "You're so cute," and "What are we doin' tomorrow?"
His achievements are remarkable and numerous. He graduated from Niles North High School and was long-time altar server at St. John Brebeuf in Niles. He worked at Jewel, Dominick's, Omni and Safeway. Kurt was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the highest rank of Eagle Scout. His many passions included fishing (especially with his brothers and nephews), vacations, dining out, video games, playing cards (Uno and Right, Left, Center) dance and music. Kurt played the piano and the organ.
Kurt was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile would light up the whole room. He cared deeply for everyone around him. He was kind and compassionate. He made a loving impact on so many lives and made the world around him a better place. He will be missed by so many.
Kurt would want us to thank his wonderful caretakers Pio, John and Little.
