Kazimierz Bulgajewski, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, in DuPage County, Illinois, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Stachówka, Poland on May 23, 1935, Kazimierz lived a life defined by resilience, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. As a survivor of World War II in Poland, he carried a deep sense of perseverance that touched everyone who knew him. In 1957, he courageously journeyed to the United States on his own to establish a stable career and build a home. After successfully setting up a foundation, he traveled back to Germany in 1959 to marry his beloved Lidia, returning together to Chicago to start their new life. They lived in Chicago until 1999, before moving to Carol Stream, Illinois, where he spent his remaining years building a beautiful life grounded in hard work and deep family values.
He endured a lifetime of immense challenges with great faith in God. Amongst the challenges, he enjoyed life to the fullest! His presence will be deeply missed as well as his 91 years of history especially during WWII. May God welcome him home with open arms and bless his soul for eternity! He is now re-united with his brother, Stanislaw, his father Franek (who was killed by Nazis during WWII) when Kazimierz was only 10 years old, and also re-united with his son, Edward! God speed!
A remarkably skilled and brilliant craftsman, Kazimierz worked for many years as a talented tool and die maker. His sharp mind and hands-on expertise extended far beyond his career; he was deeply learned in a multitude of fields. Kazimierz took immense pride in completely renovating his own home—expertly updating the electrical wiring, rebuilding custom kitchen cabinets, and mastering the plumbing. Generous with his knowledge and time, he was always the first to help his family with their own home projects, leaving a tangible legacy of his craftsmanship in the homes of those he loved.
The heart of Kazimierz's life was his extraordinary love story with his wife, Lidia Bulgajewski (nee Jagielnicki). Having first met as children in Poland, their bond grew over a lifetime, leading to their marriage in 1959. Together, they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage, enduring every triumph and challenge side-by-side with deep devotion.
He was a deeply loving and devoted father who poured his heart into caring for his family. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Janina Bulgajewski (nee Rudnicka); his father, Franek Bulgajewski; his stepfather, Czesław Mordzak; his dear brother, Stanislaw Bulgajewski; and his beloved son, Edward Bulgajewski, who was born on July 28, 1962, and passed away at the age of 59.
He leaves behind a vast legacy of love. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lidia; and his devoted daughter, Genevieve Bulgajewski, who was born on January 3, 1965. Kazimierz will also be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his cherished sisters, Wanda Romer (nee Bulgajewski), Marianna Rudnicki (nee Bulgajewski), and Donna Osipczuk (nee Mordzak); and his dear brothers-in-law, Frank Romer, John (Leszek) Rudnicki, and Victor Osipczuk.
He leaves an enduring mark on his loving nieces and nephews, Ursula Paszkiet (nee Bulgajewski), Barbara Osipczuk, Richard Osipczuk, Irene Queen (nee Bulgajewski), Krystyna Aguiar (nee Rudnicki), Melanie Romer Noel, Gregory Rudnicki, Joseph Osipczuk, Michael Osipczuk, and Christopher Osipczuk; as well as his great-nieces, Angelika Aguiar, Alyssa Aguiar, and Ava Aguiar, and his great-nephew, Eliot Noel.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026 from4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Skaja Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, Illinois.
A funeral mass celebrating Kazimierz's life will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church, 8307 N. Harlem Avenue, Niles, Illinois. A procession will follow to St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, Illinois, for his final resting place.
He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
