John Mark Nelson, 75, of Chicago, IL died of respiratory disease on Tuesday December 19th. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Carr) and father of Claire.  Devoted son of the late John Leo and Catherine (nee Jones).  Loving brother of  Judith (Michael) Diedling, Mary (Fernand) Forcier, Thomas (Linda), Joseph and the late Patrick.  Survived by many nieces and nephews.

John was a dedicated family man and a staunch Catholic.  Growing up he developed his love of sports and maintained a lifelong loyalty to the Chicago Cubs and Bears. After attending Notre Dame High School he served in the army as a radio technician which led to his 30 year career with AT&T as a communications specialist.

John was a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus where he acquired a lasting interest in history and politics.  He was an avid chess player, an enthusiastic photographer, and a friend to all animals.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

A memorial visitation will be held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Niles. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM until the time of the Service at 1:00 PM
