Jeanne Szramek of Chicago Illinois 1947-2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Szramek, who we lost on
December 12, 2024. Jeanne is remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt,
grandmother and friend. Jeanne was known as a loving wife, fiercely protective mother
and grandmother, who would drop anything at a moment's notice to help anyone in her family.
Born in June 1947, Jeanne was the daughter of Estelle and Walter Dworak.
Jeannie found great joy in her role as Mother and Grandmother. Jeanne worked for the
Social Security Administration for 42 years. Jeanne loved to travel with her husband Bob,
taking many road trips around the United States as well as trips to other countries.
Jeanne's biggest joy was watching her Grandchildren grow, babysitting almost every weekend,
attending their sporting events, dance recitals and shows. She loved hosting holiday dinners
for her entire family and was an excellent cook.
Jeanne fought a courageous battle against Alzheimer's/Dementia and even though she may not
have remembered your name she would tell you how handsome or beautiful you were. Even at
the end, she knew you were one of hers and would smile when she saw you walk in or heard
your voice.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters and survived by her
husband Robert Szramek, children Robert and Kay Szramek, Debra and Greg Spizziri, Ken and
Michelle Szramek and Grandchildren Allison, Brian, Haley and Stella and three brothers Frank,
Michael and Robert Dworak. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she
loved like her own children.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on December 16, 2024 from 4:00pm until
8:00pm at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N Milwaukee Ave., Niles IL with a prayer
service at 8:00pm.
