Janina A. Zurek nee Paluch, age 90 of Glenview, IL was born in Sambor, Poland to Jan and Agnieszka Paluch. Janina passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, surrounded by dear family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Władysław Zurek; loving mother of Christopher (Krystyna) Zurek, Maria (Zbigniew) Motta and Irene (the late Sam) Alwan; dearest Grandmother of Peter (Julia) Motta, Elizabeth (Patrick) Hozian; Paul (Aston Ziglar) Motta; Anna Motta; Erik (Greta Brauer) Zurek, Alexander Alwan, Alena (Richard, Jr.) Joyce & Adam Alwan; great grandmother to: Nikoli, Konrad and Henrik Hozian, Alex and Gloria Motta, and Rodrick Derkatz; aunt to many. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Jadwiga Iwasieczko and Jozef (Maria) Paluch.

Janina created a beautiful family, working hard to give her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren a blessed life. She worked at Illinois Bell (now AT&T) for 20 years before she retired with perfect attendance. Apart from providing for her family, Janina made the world a more beautiful place in the garden where she found tremendous peace and joy. She was an amazing baker, cook, and avid seamstress; her work lives on in the copious blankets, clothes, and bedding she sewed for those she loved. Her presence, knowledge, and care will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday November 2nd at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Niles from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Friday November 3rd at 9:00 AM to St. Catherine Laboure Church for mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Maryhill Cemetery.
