In Loving Memory of Janina Jakucewicz June 2, 1954 – July 22, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janina Jakucewicz, who died on July 22, 2026, at the age of 72. Janina was born in Boguszewo, Poland, to Krystyna and Leopold Laniewski. Janina and her son fled communism, immigrating to America in 1986. Throughout her life, she embodied the values of hard work and unwavering devotion to her family. Those who knew her will remember her determination, quiet and not so quiet strength, kindness, and warm smile. For many years, Janina was a dedicated employee of Saint Francis rectory, where she earned the respect of her coworkers through her strong work ethic and formed many lasting friendships that she cherished throughout her life.

Outside of work, Janina enjoyed spending time with her family and large circle of friends. She enjoyed helping people and was generous to her friends and family. She loved dancing. Her one regret in life was not having danced enough.

Janina was the devoted mother of Cezary Jakucewicz, the loving grandmother of Alexandra Jakucewicz, cherished mother-in-law of Megan Rosol, the proud and loving great-grandmother of Alexander Stanley Borak, and sister of Salomea Brogan, Stanislaw Laniewski, Jozef Laniewski, Genowefa Brogan, Danek Laniewski, and Antoni Laniewski.

Visitation will be held at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, Illinois, on Sunday, July 26 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, located at 1321 N. Burning Bush Ln., Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056. Janina will be buried at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery 8600 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, Illinois.
