Jan Hreska, 68, of Palatine, Illinois, passed away on August 22, 2024. Born on September 6, 1955, in Zakopane, Poland, Jan was a cherished member and a beacon of levity to all who knew him.

Jan was known for his loving, outgoing, and reliable nature. He was profoundly caring, fiercely loyal, and endlessly wise. A protective presence in the lives of his loved ones, he was also the forever jokester, always ready with a light-hearted quip that brought laughter and lightness to any gathering.

He is survived by a loving family who will dearly miss his vibrant spirit including: his mother, Sophie Kulikowski; his children, David Hreska and Crystal Hreska; his grandchildren, Dylan Prokop and Mason Prokop; and his siblings, Wesley Hreska, Halina Ortiz, Mary Luberda, Anna Korytkowski, and Peter Kulikowski. Jan was preceded in death by his father, Marion Hreska, and his stepfather, Stanley Kulikowski.

The family invites friends and relatives to join them in both mourning his loss and celebrating his memorable life. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm  at  the Skaja Terrace Funeral Homes, located at 7812 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714. With Funeral Services to be held on Friday at 11:00 am.  Interment at Maryhill Cemetery.
