Jack Roger
Wersching
Mar 11, 1955 — Jun 20, 2025
Park Ridge
Jack Wersching, 70, of Park Ridge, Illinois, died unexpectedly on June 20, 2025 in a tragic hiking accident. The family is shocked and devastated by the loss but takes comfort knowing he died doing something he loved.
Jack is survived by his wife Jeanie; two daughters, Tiffany (Jim) Libby and Valerie (Matt) Lau; two siblings Donna Nowakowski and Ed (Yolande) Wersching. He is survived by two grandsons, Grant and Dean Libby, nine nephews, one niece, and many grand nieces and nephews, who all brought him so much joy. He was a cousin and friend to many, as well as missed by his canine companion, Enzo.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Jacob Wersching, Baby Brother Wersching , sister Vicky (Gene) Nowak and brother-in-law Mark Nowakowski.
On March 11, 1955, Jack was born to Elizabeth and Jacob Wersching at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Jack only weighed about 4.5 pounds at birth; his twin brother was stillborn a month earlier.
He grew up in the city's Edison Park neighborhood and attended Taft High School, where he met his future wife, Jeanie. They were married for 44 years, and together for more than half a century.
Jack attended college at Northeastern Illinois University, and after graduation, he embarked on a long-standing career with Yellow Pages. In his 50s, he went back to school to become a teacher, and spent much of his teaching career at Heartland Alliance.
Those who knew Jack knew how much he loved history– he was endlessly fascinated by World War II. He loved traveling, learning and delighting in the little things. Jack's friends will recall his weekly establishment of ATFM, otherwise known as "Alternative Therapy For Men." For an ATFM session, Jack would light a fire pit in his front yard, invite his pals over for cigars, something to drink and talk about life.
Jack's family has requested that donations be made in Jack's name to the Chicago Catholic Kolping Center
