Irena
Gadamer
Feb 20, 1955 — May 4, 2026
Des Plaines
Irena Gadamer was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born to Jozefa and Antoni Gromko on February 20, 1955, in Klewianka, Poland, she passed away peacefully at her home in Des Plaines, Illinois, on May 4, 2026.
Irena immigrated to the United States in 1994 with her children. As a single mother raising two teenagers, she worked tirelessly—often holding two, and at times three jobs—to support her family, learn a new language, and build a life of safety and opportunity for her children. In Poland, Irena served as a nurse for nearly 20 years, caring for newborn babies in Mońki. After moving to the United States, she continued her life of service as a nursing assistant and housekeeper. Through her steadfast dedication, strong work ethic, and unconditional love, she touched many lives.
Above all, Irena cherished time with her grandchildren. She delighted in caring for them, preparing homemade meals and special treats, reading with them, playing games, and taking them on little shopping trips—simple moments that became lasting memories.
Irena's sincere love for her family and friends was evident in all she did. Kind, patient, and attentive, she offered quiet strength and encouragement to those around her. She will be remembered as a humble and gentle soul whose life was guided by faith, marked by an impeccable work ethic, and rooted in humility and love.
Irena will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends, including her son, Radek; her daughter, Agnieszka (Piotr); her grandchildren, Kacper and Isabella; her sisters, Teresa and Kasia (Jozef); her nephews and their children, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Funeral Friday 9:15 AM to St. John Brebeuf for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. Funeral info 847-966-7302 or www.skajafuneralhomes.com
Odeszła spokojnie 4 maja 2026 roku w swoim domu w Des Plaines w stanie Illinois.
W 1994 roku Irena wyemigrowała do Stanów Zjednoczonych wraz z dziećmi.
