Harry J. Ashner, 83, a resident of Niles, formerly of Park Ridge and Chicago passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Beloved brother of Ann M. (John) Harnisch, loving uncle to Aimee (Michael) Maugherman and Elizabeth Harnisch. Grand uncle of Christopher (Danielle) Grandy, dear son of the late Harry M. and Irene nee Troy Ashner. He had 12 cousins and many friends who loved and respected him. He was the loving companion of the late Priscilla (Pam) Samorez. Harry graduated from St. Rita of Cascia H.S. and University of Illinois, Urbana. He worked in accounting supervisory roles for Masonite and Motorola. He was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge, and a volunteer with the Park Ridge Police Citizens' Patrol.

He was passionate about playing tennis, was an enthusiastic Cubs fan, loved dogs especially pugs, volunteered at the Chicago Botanic Garden, and for many years enjoyed propagating plants in his own greenhouse. His family will cherish memories of the beautiful Christmas Eve celebrations he hosted.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. Niles. Family and friends to meet at St. Paul of the Cross Church 140 S. NW Hwy in Park Ridge on Friday at 11:15 AM for an 11:30 AM Funeral Mass. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Park Ridge IL, Chicago Botanic Garden, or PAWS (pawschicago.org).
