Evelyn C.
Gianos
Feb 6, 1932 — Aug 31, 2023
Niles
Evelyn Cecilia Gianos, born February 6, 1932, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the age of 91. She was raised in Chicago, Illinois where she was educated in dance, music, and art. As a young woman she had an exciting career as a professional dancer and model. She performed with such musical greats as Lena Horne and Tommy Dorsey and performed for General Douglas Mac Arthur on his victory tour through Chicago. It was during this time that she experienced "love at first sight", meeting and later marrying Thomas Gianos. They settled in Chicago and eventually moved to Niles, Illinois where they raised their four children. Evelyn helped Tom with the family business. She enjoyed running every morning and competed and won in several races. She trained and showed her dogs, winning many awards. Finally, she continued dance, specifically taking tap lessons for many years. In retirement, Evelyn and Tom spent much of their time up in the North Woods of Boulder Junction, WI. Although she did not travel much, highlights included cross country travel, exploring the Western United States, trips to Greece and England, and later in life, a trip to Washington DC.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Gianos. She is survived by her children, Timothy Gianos (Renia Ksel), Mary Elise Gianos (Wayne Kleinman), Diane Gianos Walker (Rene' Valdez), and Thomas Gianos (Fernanda). She was a beloved grandmother to Steven Douglas (Jessica), Kimberly Irene (Justin), David Alexander, John August (Katherine), Annette Elise, Charles Walker, Angelina Lysette, Luke Augustine, Marina Evelyn, and Michael Thomas. She was an adored great grandmother, known as GG, to JT Coletin, Sadie Evelyn, and Gabriella Evelyn. Her devoted companions during her life included Teddy, Stormy, Skyler, Youie, Danny, and Timmy.
