Obituary

Elliot Andre Linne, age 78, member of United States Marine Corp; beloved father of Bret Carl (Alexandra) Linne, Betsy Anne (Joshua) Linne-Pack, Eric Linne with fiance  Ethel Banks; loving step father of Edna, Amos, Tasha, Eugene and the late Demetious; dearest grandfather of Amir, Amara, Vivian, Austin, and Miya.

Elliot, affectionately known by many as "Red" was a man larger than life in every way. With his towering presence, fiery red hair, and a deep love for family, he embodied strength, resilience, and a warm, caring heart.
At his core, Elliot was a devoted father to Bret, Betsy, and Eric and was family to so many more. Always doing everything in his power to raise them with love, guidance, and generosity. He worked tirelessly to ensure they had all they needed and cherished the special bond they shared. His love extended far beyond his family, helping others and raising children as if they were his own children or grandchildren, and always lending a hand to anyone in need. Sometimes to the detriment of his own desires and dreams. It was never a burden to him it was love.
A proud Marine who served his country in Vietnam, Elliot's service was a source of immense pride throughout his life. He often spoke fondly of his time in the Marines, and that sense of duty shaped the man he became—a protector, a helper, and a pillar of strength for those around him.
Elliot's passion for fishing began in his childhood and remained his ultimate source of joy and peace. Whether on a quiet lake or a sunny shore, his dream was always to find that perfect, tranquil spot to cast his line and let time drift by.
A true character, Elliot was as stubborn as he was kind. Known for his unshakable opinions, the only way to get him to budge was through sweet talk and charm—a tactic that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. He had a mischievous streak too, stashing sweets and food around the house and generally trying to get away with all kinds of mischief all to the playful frustration of his beloved fiancée, Ethel and the rest of his family.
Elliot's love of animals and nature was unmatched. As a child, he often brought home injured animals, much to the chagrin of his mother, especially the time he unleashed a houseful of snakes! That love for creatures and the natural sciences stayed with him his entire life, defining his deep respect for all living things.
For much of his career, Elliot worked at CTA, where he earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues. His legacy at work was one of integrity, hard work, and camaraderie.
Elliot was a man who touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and generosity. Those who knew him will remember his larger-than-life presence, his tender heart, and the way he made everyone feel like family. He was truly one of a kind, and his passing leaves a hole that can never be filled.
We love you, Daddy/Grandpa/Red/Duke/Elliot. You will always be in our hearts.
