Eileen Gorski, 63 was welcomed home August 22, 2023, after a valiant battle with Cancer.

She is survived by her beloved parents, Gene and Mary Ann (Mazzarella) Gorski, twin brother Michael (Deborah) Gorski, and siblings Jeffrey (Sherri) Gorski, Cathy (Bruce) Thompson, Donna (Jerry) Velzka and Karen (Judge James T.) Doyle. As well as many close cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear life-long friends.

Eileen loved people and never met a stranger in her whole life. She spent her life giving to others with both her money and her time and there wasn't a need she missed. Whether walking down the street, volunteering with the Housing Forward (PADS) community, collecting goods or donations in the back of her car, or gifting her friends, she was always thinking of and giving to others — touching the lives of countless people throughout her life.

While her complete inability to navigate any expressway is legend, she knew the streets of her beloved Chicago better than the back of her hand. She could find the best bakery, family-owned restaurant, and specialty gift shops easily, and knew the most remote and scenic route to get there. Every trip with Eileen was an adventure and you never knew where she would turn up. Wandering through the Taste of Chicago and literally bumping into your sister, unplanned, by Buckingham Fountain was not even a surprise. She lived her life to the fullest, and truly her own way.

While we mourn her leaving this earth, we are comforted by the fact that she is now out of pain, and this day welcomed gloriously into the kingdom of heaven.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass 10:30 am at Our Lady of Hope Church, 9711 W. Devon Ave., Rosemont, IL 60018. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a homeless shelter in your community in Eileen's name.
