Obituary

Debra E. Wolski "Debbie", beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 1, 2026. She was born on December 7, 1957 to Robert (deceased) and Geraldine (nee Obecny) Wolski and was a cherished sister to Janet (Robert) Loerzel and Wendy (Edgar) Litwitz. Debbie's love and devotion to her family extended to her nieces and nephews, whom she held close to her heart: Kevin Loerzel, Eric Loerzel, Scott Litwitz, and Kelly Litwitz. Throughout her life she was a devoted dog mom to Mya, Brodie, Maisie, Cooper, Ben, Cassie, Max, Mitzie, Carmel, and Sparky. She worked and made friends with people across the country, retaining their friendships even though miles separated them.

Debbie's life was one of deep faith, instilled in her from her Catholic upbringing. She always felt that God guided her path, providing strength and comfort through her many challenges.

A lifelong learner, Debbie attended St. John Brebeuf, Resurrection High School, Oakton Community College, Northeastern Illinois University, DePaul University, and the Florida Institute of Technology. Early in her career, she became a licensed cosmetologist, developing a keen skill for color foundation, which she carried throughout her life. In 2006, she proudly earned her Bachelor's degree from DePaul University, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Later, in 2020, Debbie continued her pursuit of knowledge, achieving a Six Sigma Certification through the Florida Institute of Technology.

A lover of knowledge, Debbie had an extraordinary memory and could recall facts about history, world events, geography, and family stories. She loved puzzles and problem solving, and was a regular viewer of Jeopardy, where she knew most of the answers before they were revealed.

Debbie's work life spanned many professions and occupations including Carvel Ice Cream Shop, Hair Performers, Shure Brothers, Fort Dearborn Lithograph, Potash Company, and most recently USG.

Debbie had a deep appreciation for music, especially the soothing sounds of James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet, and easy listening from the 70s and 80s. She also found joy in the bagpipes and the melodies they provided. Her love of music often led her to spend time with family and friends at the theater or at Ravinia. During the day, she found peace walking through the Chicago Botanic Garden, but her true sanctuary was her own garden. There, surrounded by the flowers and herbs she lovingly planted and nurtured, Debbie found solace and happiness.

Debbie was a creative soul who loved to write, both for fun and with purpose. She recently launched Reserve the Write, a venture where she crafted creative content for newsletters and resumes.

Her dreams for 2026 were to retire and spend her time creating: whether it be writing, painting, sketching, or working in her garden.

Throughout her life, Debbie faced numerous health challenges. She survived COVID-19, breast cancer, a massive heart attack, and bypass surgery. She was strong and strong-willed. She pushed through challenges, and tried to always keep a cheerful disposition, even when she was struggling inside.

Now that Debbie has been called home to heaven, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace. When you see a watercolor-filled sky, remember her and the light she brought into this world. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
