Obituary

Clara D. Moreno (nee Kenzal) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 22, 2026.  Born March 22, 1935, the youngest daughter of the late Lawrence and Felicia (nee Sassone) Kenzal in Utica, NY.  Her family moved to Chicago when she was 7 years old.  She met the love of her life, Chuck Moreno, in 1952.  They married in 1957 and lived on the Southeast side of Chicago.  Clara loved running. When competing, she won marathons.  She took an active interest in volunteering at her local Chicago Public Library, working with children.  Later in life, she took an extraordinary interest in dancing and taught herself steps from various dance styles.  However, of all her interests, food ranked number one on her list.  She appreciated a good meal, savoring each bite.  Clara was a classic beauty who was often mistaken for a model.  Clara is survived by her daughters Linda (John) Betthauser and Debra (Thomas) Flynn III,  Grandson Leo (Jasmine) Betthauser, along with her 2 great-grandchildren, Bastian and Alden Betthauser.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Maurillo (Chuck) Moreno, and, her brother John Kenzal.  A  Memorial mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday August 22nd at St. Paul of the Cross Church 320 S. Washington Ave. Park Ridge, IL 60068. Interment will be private. Funeral info 847-966-7302 or www.skajafuneralhomes.com.
