Christine
Lippai
Nov 23, 1940 — Sep 20, 2022
Addison
Christine Lippai (81) born November, 1940, in Lacko, Poland, daughter of Antoni & Rosalia.
Loving wife, mother, and grandmother lost her battle with Pneumonia and other complications from stage 4 breast cancer that spread to her body and ultimately her brain. She lost her battle on September 20, 2022.
Christine grew up in Poland working her father's farm. She enjoyed the smell of fresh hay, taste of warm milk straight from the cow, and learning to be a dress maker in school. At age 20 she immigrated to Chicago, IL and was adopted by her Aunt Rose and Uncle Sam. They happily lived in a brownstone where she honed her tatting, crocheting, and knitting skills
It was in Chicago-at a party-that she met the love of her life Istvan Lippai, who wooed her with dancing, picnics, good food and movies. They were married in January, 1967, they were married and started a family. Laura was born the first year of their marriage, and quickly followed by their son Steve the next year, and rounded out the family with the arrival of Wendy seven years later.
Milestones in Christine's life included becoming a US naturalized citizen, learning to drive, going to Disney World, and moving from Chicago's Westside, and then to Addison, Illinois where she was well known for her flowers, kind words, and cheery disposition. She remained a fixture in her community for over the last 50 years.
Christine was employed as a factory line worker soldering game boards for manufacturers such as Sega and Legacy for end game room machines like Q-bert, and Myst. She enjoyed helping newly hired Polish employees as an interrupter who needed an extra translation liaison with management. She was recognized as the best they had by management and well liked by her peers.
After retirement she enjoyed extensive time with all her grandchildren aspiring to absorb any or all opportunities to teach, learn, and grow with them. She wished to witness all plays, concerts, and sports events. She was even looking forward to meeting her newest great granddaughter due to arrive shortly in October. Christine was a good wife, a great mother, and an awesome babcia.
Sadly, the last two years of her life her body began to betray her due to the cancer progression, ultimately she succumbed to the disease.
She is survived in Poland by her sister, Maria, and her brother, Adam as well as all their their children; In the US she leaves her husband (Steve), and children (Laura, Steve, and Wendy) and their children (Kimberlee, Logan, Mike, and Hunter and expected great granddaughter (Iona)).
A huge thank you to Alexian Brothers Hospital, doctors, nurses, and staff that worked heroically to keep Christine comfortable as she transitioned to beyond this world to the next. Couldn't have done this without your unwavering support.
