Christine Grabowski passed away the evening of Monday, April 10, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ignacy. She is survived by daughters Maria T. Zbierski (Edward) and Barbara T. Ozog (Gregory); brother Chester Haltman (Janet); grandchildren Amber Zbierski Mazmanian (Nicholas), Justin Zbierski, Michael Ozog, and Daniel Ozog; great-granddaughters Astrid Mazmanian and Edith Mazmanian; and many nieces and nephews.

Christine was born in 1930 in Zamosc, Poland and was nine when WWII broke out. Their part of Poland was alternately overrun by Russia and Germany. She and her family were relocated to a displaced persons camp in Germany, where Jozef, her father, passed away. After the war ended, she was able to come to Chicago in 1948 through the sponsorship of the late Mrs. Bernice Prus, a wonderful, generous woman, who continued as a life-long friend. Christine worked and saved funds to enable the late Agnieszka Haltman, her mother, and Chester, her younger brother, to join her.

She met her husband Ignacy in Chicago at a St. Helen's dance and they subsequently married there in 1955. They were parishioners at St. Fidelis Church until their move to Park Ridge in 1969. They became devout parishioners of St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge, where they regularly volunteered at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

Christine and Ignacy were long-time members of the Polish Scouting Organization.

Christine's great joy and love was all her family being together for the holidays.

Funeral Mass at 10:00 am Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge and interment at Maryhill Cemetery.
