Obituary

Carol Devyor (née Plonka), aged 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 27, 2024, in Chicago, IL.

Born on January 22, 1938, in Chicago, she lived a full and vibrant life in her hometown. Carol was an amazing Mom, Grandmother, and friend to many people. She brought joy, laughter, and kindness to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Carol was active member, Eucharistic Minister, and Sacristan at St. Mary of the Woods Parish. She was involved as the Sunshine Lady for the Golden Agers clubs at St. John Brebeuf, and was an active member of the Niles Senior Center. She was a social neighbor to those she lived with in Eagle Point Condominiums where many said she was the "little lady with a big heart".

Carol loved traveling, whether it was a day trip on a bus with the Yesterdays Youth Club (YYC) members, on a train, international travel, or cruises. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, bingo, games and playing cards, often using her "old lady privilege rules" while playing Uno.

Carol was married to the late Thomas Devyor for 53 years. She is survived by her three children, Joseph (Kelly), Michael (Kimberly), and Christine (Joseph); and proud of her four grandchildren, Hannah, Colin, Emily, and Colleen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Illinois. Funeral Friday 9:00 AM to St. Mary of the Woods for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Maryhill Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family wishes to thank Home Instead of Park Ridge for their continued care, and the staff at Ascension Resurrection Hospital and Rainbow Hospice Ark in Chicago for their devoted care in her final days.

Carol brought light and love to all who knew her, and she will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.
